About Cecilia Welch
“I want to enable the voice of others, so they can find the strength and courage to sing again.”
Hi, Cecilia here! Born and raised in Sweden, I am now for the past 20 years lucky to call East Corrimal home, where I live with my beautiful husband, sons, and three dogs who fill my days with laughter, challenges & love. Surrounded by the coast’s beauty, I cherish the simple joys of being outside and seeing the ocean daily. Creativity has been a constant presence throughout my life, offering comfort, healing, and self-discovery moments. It’s my journey with art and creativity that drives my private practice.
I studied Creative Art for two years in Sweden before moving to Australia. I have since completed Diplomas in both Youth Work and Art Therapy.
With over twenty years of experience working within disability services and now for the last six years, working as a Wellbeing Support Officer in a primary school, supporting children with their social and emotional well-being. I am truly passionate about my work and committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those I support. It’s my life journey, my passion for working with people, creativity, and supporting children’s growth has led me to where I am today.
As an art therapy counsellor and registered member of ACCA (Australian Community Counselling Association), I am committed to upholding professional and ethical standards in my practice as I am offering therapeutic services using art to explore emotions and support personal growth.
I found Cecilia & her Art Therapy helped me with certain challenges in my life,
which was of great benefit to my inner healing journey & well-being.
She has a very warm & genuine nature & professional attitude.
I feel she’ll succeed in her career as she loves what she does.

Cecilia’s art therapy sessions have had a massive impact on my daughter’s mental state and overall well-being. After engaging with Cecilia, my daughter has become noticeably calmer and more focused. She is now better able to channel her energy into productive activities and has learned to use art as a tool for building resilience and maintaining composure in stressful situations. Cecilia’s guidance during her first year of High School has been instrumental in helping her develop these invaluable coping mechanisms. I am incredibly grateful to Cecilia for helping my daughter.

Honestly, it was one of the most healing experiences I’ve had with art. I got to use all different types of materials to make amasing art. I was encouraged to talk about my feelings in a safe space and didn’t feel judged once. Some of my best artworks were made with you and I will cherish the experience of being able to do this, it is a massive privilege and I am so grateful!

How does Art therapy counselling benefit me?
Art therapy counselling can benefit people of all ages and backgrounds. It is particularly helpful for individuals who find it difficult to express themselves verbally. Whether due to psychological or physical challenges, art therapy can serve as an effective tool for communication. For children and adolescents, who may struggle to articulate their thoughts, sensations, emotions, or perceptions, art therapy counselling provides a means of expression that goes beyond words. It allows them to convey what might be difficult to express with speech, fostering emotional connection and personal insight. Art therapy counselling is also beneficial for those experiencing stress, trauma, or emotional difficulties. By using art as a tool for self-expression, individuals can process their feelings and gain deeper understanding and healing. It helps open a channel for communication, promoting emotional growth and self-empowerment.

How Art Therapy Counselling at Creative Journeys Can Support Your Child
Why Art Therapy Counselling?
Art therapy offers children a powerful way to express emotions that can’t always be put into words. For children who struggle to articulate their feelings, art provides a safe, creative outlet to communicate and heal in their own way.
Common Challenges Children Face in School.
- Anxiety or overwhelm: Managing assignments, navigating friendships, or transitioning between activities can sometimes feel like too much.
- Self-esteem issues: Many children compare themselves to their peers, feeling as though they don’t measure up academically, socially, or creatively.
- Emotional regulation: The ups and downs of growing up can make it difficult for children to manage big feelings like frustration, sadness, or anger.
- Social challenges: Bullying, peer pressure, or difficulties in forming friendships can make school life even more overwhelming.

How Creative Journeys Can Help
At Creative Journeys, each art therapy counselling session is tailored to meet your child’s needs. In a calm, supportive environment, your child will engage in creative projects designed to:
- Boost self-confidence
- Build emotional resilience
- Improve focus and self-regulation
- Enhance communication and social skills
Art therapy counselling isn’t just about helping children overcome obstacles—it’s about empowering them to grow stronger, gain confidence, and thrive.
Through art therapy, your child will have the opportunity to:
- Explore a deeper understanding of themselves.
- Gain confidence and inner strength.
- Express emotions in a safe, non-judgmental way.
- Begin a journey of healing and self-discovery.
Navigating School and Growing Up
For many children, school is more than just academics—it’s where they figure out who they are, how to make friends, and how to handle the big feelings that come with growing up. These challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming.
Maybe your child is struggling with anxiety, finding it hard to connect with peers, or feeling like they don’t quite fit in. As a parent, it can be tough to see your child facing these struggles and not know how to help.
This is where art therapy—and Creative Journeys—can make a difference.
What Makes Art Therapy Counselling So Powerful?
Sometimes, kids don’t have the words to explain what they’re feeling. Art therapy counselling provides a gentle, non-judgmental way for them to explore their emotions and feel understood.
Through creative activities, children can:
- Work through anxiety in a way that feels safe and manageable.
- Build confidence as they see their ideas take shape.
- Learn to navigate friendships by exploring empathy and connection.
- Find a sense of belonging by expressing their authentic selves.
The best part? Art therapy doesn’t require any special talent or skill—just a willingness to create.
A Safe Space for Your Child to Grow
At Creative Journeys, we create a nurturing environment where your child can truly feel at ease. There’s no pressure, no judgment—just a calm, welcoming space where they can let go of their worries and focus on themselves.
During each session, we will explore different art materials. Whether drawing, painting, or sculpting, your child will have the opportunity to discover new ways to express their feelings, find their voice, build strength, and deepen their sense of self as they navigate and work through their emotions.

How Art Therapy Counselling Can Support Teens
The teenage years are full of change, self-discovery, and challenges. From managing school pressures to navigating relationships and figuring out who they are, it’s a lot to take on. Art therapy offers a safe and creative space where teens can slow down, reflect, and express their feelings in their own way.
Why Art Therapy Counselling?
Sometimes, it’s hard for teens to find the words to explain what they’re feeling. The expression through art opens another way to communicate—one that feels personal and non-judgmental. Whether they’re dealing with anxiety, low self-esteem, or struggles with friendships, art provides an outlet to process emotions, release stress, and find a sense of clarity.
Common Challenges Teens Face
- Anxiety and overwhelm: The pressures of school, social media, and growing responsibilities can feel like too much.
- Self-esteem struggles: Comparing themselves to others can leave teens questioning their worth.
- Big emotions: Adolescence often comes with intense feelings that can feel confusing or hard to manage.
- Identity and belonging: Teens are on a journey to figure out who they are, which can leave them feeling isolated or unsure.

How Art Therapy Counselling Helps
At its core, art therapy is about self-expression and healing. Sessions are tailored to your teen’s unique needs, offering a supportive space where they can:
- Explore and work through their emotions at their own pace.
- Build self-confidence by discovering their strengths.
- Learn tools to manage anxiety and overwhelming feelings.
- Strengthen relationships by developing empathy and understanding.
A Creative and Personal Approach
Your teen doesn’t need to be “good at art” to benefit from Art therapy counselling sessions. The process is what matters—not the outcome. Whether it’s painting, drawing, or creating something entirely their own, art becomes a way for them to express what’s on their mind, make sense of their feelings, and reconnect with their inner strength.
A Safe Space to Grow
Art therapy counselling gives teens the chance to step away from life’s pressures and focus on themselves. In this calm, supportive environment, they’ll discover new ways to navigate challenges, build resilience, and grow into the confident, self-assured individuals they are meant to be.

How Art Therapy Counselling Can Support Adults
Have you ever wished for a moment of peace, where you could just breathe, reflect, and let go of the weight you carry? Art therapy counselling provides that opportunity—a gentle, non-judgmental space where you can focus on yourself and explore your inner world. For adults, it’s not about being good at art; it’s about using creativity to express feelings, process emotions, and uncover strengths you might not realise you have.
Why Art Therapy?
Research has shown that expression through art can reduce stress, improve emotional well-being, and even lower symptoms of anxiety and depression. By engaging in creative activities, your brain enters a state of flow, which promotes mindfulness and helps you stay present. This process activates your parasympathetic nervous system, calming the mind and body while fostering a sense of balance.
Whether you’re navigating grief, managing anxiety, facing burnout, or simply feeling lost, Art therapy counselling can help you slow down and connect with yourself in a meaningful way. It’s a way to externalise what’s inside—putting feelings, thoughts, and experiences into colours, shapes, and textures—so you can see them more clearly and work through them.

For parents, it can be a space to process the emotional toll of caregiving or to explore how to better support your children. For individuals, it’s a chance to rediscover parts of yourself that may have been forgotten or pushed aside amidst life’s demands. Expression through art has also been shown to enhance problem-solving skills and encourage new perspectives, making it easier to approach life’s challenges with creativity and confidence.
Through creativity, you can find clarity, release the mental noise, and cultivate a deeper sense of resilience, peace, and self-awareness. Art therapy counselling isn’t about creating a masterpiece; it’s about creating space—for you, your emotions, and your healing journey. It’s about finding moments of stillness in the chaos, reconnecting with the person you are beyond the roles and responsibilities you carry, and unlocking the potential for growth and healing within you.
